Most project management tools are bloated with features that teams never use. They add complexity instead of clarity, making it harder to focus on what actually matters — getting work done. I built Milestonenest to be the opposite: a clean, minimal workspace where every feature exists for a reason. No feature creep, no distractions — just the essentials done right.
Designed for focus
At the heart of Milestonenest is a refined Kanban board — a clutter-free board that lets you visualize your work without the noise. Drag, drop, done. Three core pillars drive the experience: Milestones to keep your eyes on the path, Analytics that show insights that actually matter, and real-time Collaboration built for teams that move fast with zero lag.
Seamless authentication
The login experience is designed to be as frictionless as the rest of the app. Users can sign in with email and password, authenticate with Google OAuth in one click, or continue as a guest to explore the platform instantly. The 3D torus adds a distinctive visual identity that sets Milestonenest apart from generic SaaS login pages.
Built on Appwrite's authentication system, the onboarding flow handles account creation, session management, and team invitations with enterprise-grade security — while keeping the UX buttery smooth.
The command center
Once logged in, Siddhartha's dashboard greets users with a personalized overview of their workspace. At a glance, you see Active Tasks, Completed items, Team Members, and upcoming Milestones — all rendered in a clean dark-themed interface. The Task Board provides drag-and-drop columns (To Do, In Progress, Done) with AI-powered comment suggestions for each task.
Milestone tracking
Milestones keep your eyes on the big picture. Each milestone — whether it's a Q4 Product Launch, Mobile App Beta, or Infrastructure Migration — shows real-time progress with color-coded bars. Teams can see exactly where they stand at a glance: blue for in-progress, green for complete. Due dates, descriptions, and delete controls make it easy to manage project phases without switching context or losing focus.
AI-powered task intelligence
The AI Task Summary — powered by Gemini AI — gives teams an intelligent overview of their tasks, progress, and priorities with a single click. The modal overlays the full Kanban board showing To Do, In Progress, and Done columns, providing instant context before generating insights. From identifying bottlenecks to suggesting priority shifts, the AI assistant turns raw task data into actionable intelligence that helps teams make better decisions faster.
Technical architecture
Milestonenest is built with a modern, production-grade stack. The frontend uses Next.js with a custom dark design system, responsive layouts, and smooth micro-animations. Appwrite powers the backend — handling authentication, real-time database subscriptions, team management, and file storage. The Kanban board uses optimistic UI updates for instant drag-and-drop feedback, while WebSocket connections ensure team members see changes in real-time without page refreshes.
